Weekend vibes

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night already! Weekends seem to fly by even though I’m not working and you might think it doesn’t make a difference to me which day of the week it is, like on holiday, but that’s not the case. Weekends are different not only because Maia’s dad is at home but also because there is still a special weekend vibe in the city – especially on a sunny weekend like this one!

As a wonderful surprise Maia’s dad came home early on Friday and we had a nice long pram walk with Maia before it got dark – the weather was lovely! We were all quite tired, Maia and I because of having been ill and her dad of having had a busy week at work, and so we spent a quiet night in, ordering Indian food as a treat and watching TV together, something we rarely get around to nowadays. I often I crave for warm hearty meals like curry with rice and naan bread when poorly – yummy comfort food! Unfortunately this kind of rich food doesn’t agree with my stomach so I try to keep these treats occasional.

Maia’s first cold was passing and she was still sleeping well as long as I gave her saline drops and would clear her nose a few times per night. Despite her sleeping just fine (about five to six consecutive hours a night) I had been sleeping quite poorly. I had found it hard to relax when she was unwell and had had disturbing dreams all week… It’s hard not to worry!

On Saturday we had another gloriously sunny day and we were very active, spending some quality family time. ☺️ With Maia in her pram we walked to our new house to see how the renovation was progressing (slowly but surely) and then walked by the Regent’s Canal all the way to Victoria Park for brunch. Maia behaved very well in the restaurant and in my view the only downside of eating out with the baby is having to eat with one hand! As soon as she learns to sit in a high chair eating out should get much easier. 😊

On our way back we realised we’d been out for hours and so we stopped by our friend’s home where Maia’s dad was going to go anyway to to spend the evening celebrating our friend’s birthday. Maia and I didn’t mean to crash the party, just meant to have a quick feed and a nappy change before walking back home, but we were invited to stay for home made burgers – who could have resisted!?? In total I walked over 20 000 steps that day with my ankle weights on and pushing the pram so I well deserved my brunch and burger!

We had a great time and Maia behaved very well again although it had been a busy day of new places and people. I fed her in a quiet room a few times during the evening which helped to keep her calm while we were at the birthday party.

After an active day and lots of good food we had an early night and our little girl slept again from 10pm until 4am. Unfortunately she still gets quite snotty at night and she really dislikes the nasal drops and so we had a proper meltdown at 5am… Once she finally calmed down and could breath easily again it was 6am – a perfectly good time in her view to start the day! Poor mummy and daddy! After a long feed she did settle down with me for snuggles and slept for another few hours. Phew!

After a busy Saturday we had a calmer Sunday. I was finally feeling back to normal and decided to go to the gym. It was my first baby-free workout of the week and for my sanity I try to hold on to that 1.5h slot of “me time” once a week. We decided to walk to the gym together with Maia in the pram and her dad took her for 1h walk during my workout. Then we swapped and he stayed at the gym while we walked home (after a feed at the gym cafe) with Maia. Maia had gotten bored in the pram and managed to get up on daddy’s arm to observe her surroundings whilst he pushed the pram one handedly. Daddy’s girl in the making, definitely getting him all wrapped around her tiny finger!

My gym workout was enough to wipe me out and I was happy to have a healthier dinner (salmon filet with sweet potato wedges and salad) at home after which it was already Maia’s bath time.

Tomorrow we will not go to the Mum & Baby Fitness class because it’s a Baby Cinema day! This time we’ll go to the Barbican Cinema to watch the Lady Bird with friends from the NCT group.

Hopefully we’ll both be fully recovered because we are starting baby swimming lessons on Tuesday morning! I bought Maia the cutest swimming costume I could find in small size and some swim nappies. Very much looking forward to it!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend – It’s yet another Monday tomorrow. Our baby will be three months old very soon, I can’t believe February is almost over!

xoxoxo,

Sini
