11-weeks pregnancy update

July 6th 2019.

I’ve finally started feeling better! I’m still very tired but the nausea has shifted – what a relief! I’m lucky in that I haven’t had sickness but constantly feeling like you are about to be sick… Well that totally sucks. And completely ruins my diet because I go off so many healthy foods and just want unhealthy foods like like salty crackers and crisps. To my credit I have to say I’ve been forcing myself to keep eating the good stuff as well but to get through the awful nausea I’ve been snacking on god knows what. But I hope that’ll get better now!

What’s gotten better is my activity level! On a normal day I work from 8am-6pm and then spend an hour with Maia bathing her and putting her to bed. After that I’ve been absolutely knackered. I still am, but this week I did better with choosing to walk to/from work more often which is a good 30-minute walk. And on top of that, on the weekend I did two pregnancy workouts at home from the Baby2Body app. I had never used it before but it looked very promising: it gives you a fitness program for each week of pregnancy designed by professionals. In complete honesty, the workouts haven’t been super exciting and are quite low intensity but that’s to be expected since it is a pregnancy programme. I keep telling myself that it’s better to do three “boring” 20-minute workouts per week than just lie on the sofa!! I don’t have the chance to go to the gym in this pregnancy so I’m trying out different options at home. You might remember that during my first pregnancy I had a gym membership and a prenatal trainer and did weights, spin classes and swimming throughout my pregnancy! That sounds like such luxury now. 😄

In any case I’m proud of myself of getting myself moving because, as all mums and mums-to-be would know, it’s damn hard. Getting started is the hardest part when you’re struggling with pregnancy exhaustion and being tired from work and caring for a 19-month old toddler. At this point I don’t think it’s about what kind of exercise I’m doing but just about doing something (as long as it’s pregnancy safe of course).

My bump is definitely showing now and even though my 3-month scan is another 10 days away, I’m planning on telling my boss next week. I’m getting anxious about trying to hide it and I feel like my belly is the “elephant in the room” that everyone sees but won’t dare to mention.

Another 29-weeks until we meet you baby!

xoxoxo,

Sini
