I am 10 weeks pregnant and feeling great! Maybe too great?? Nausea is gone and fatigue is not as bad. That’s a good thing, or is it?
Pregnancy symptoms made me feel pregnant. Not having all the symptoms made me think something is not right… While I won’t really know until our 12-week scan, I had to Google whether this is normal.
The consensus online seemed to be that it’s perfectly normal for pregnancy symptoms to come and go, and particularly to start easing around the 10th week. Apparently this is when the placenta is starting to take over (fully functional around week 12). Before this the mother’s body will produce progesterone to keep the baby healthy but after the placenta becomes fully operational, it starts to create the required progesterone. This could contribute to diminishing symptoms like morning sickness.
So maybe it’s all just part of the process 🙂 And if so, it’s definitely a welcomed development!
My body has started to change although the changes have been subtle. As illustrated on the right. I have put on a little bit of weight – my midwife said it’s mainly water retention at this point but I think it’s also fat as my body has gotten softer (and boobs bigger!).
I’m also starting to get a little bump in my lower tummy which I can’t suck in. I’ve read it’s a bit early for the uterus to grow out of the pelvis but I suppose we are all unique and body shape has a lot to do with it (I’m narrow hipped and not very tall).
I still fit my clothes but the “baby bloat” makes my belly double in size by the evening which makes fitted clothes a bit uncomfortable and the pregnancy more difficult to hide! I’m planning to tell about the baby after the first trimester scan, so until then I’ll need to use my imagination when it comes to work attire.
Seeing the changes in my body body is exciting but also a bit strange. Until now I’ve always had the control over how I looked! I’m very much looking forward to having a baby bump, but I have to say that this transition period just makes me look and feel fat! Oh well, luxury problems 🙂
xoxoxo,
