I’m excited to tell you that next July we’ll be getting married in Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy!! 🇮🇹
We will have our wedding ceremony on the top of The Castle of Malcesine on an outdoor terrace overlooking the town of Malcesine and the Lake Garda, subject to weather of course (fingers crossed!). According to our initial plan, the ceremony will be followed by a Champagne Toast with a light lunch by the lake or alternatively in the castle. Next we’d like to take our guests on a boat cruise on the lake to enjoy the surroundings. The boat could then take us to the reception venue, Ristorante La Voglia, also by the lake, for the speeches, an Italian wedding breakfast, cake and of course music and dancing!!
We are very excited about the idea of celebrating our big day amidst the magnificent scenery of Lake Garda and enjoying the Italian hospitality and food.
Our wedding will not be huge, just the closest family and friends – roughly 60/70 guests. We were looking for an easy(ish) logistic solution to the challenge that our guests live in different countries. We also tried to find a location most of our guests and their children (!) would enjoy and could make a holiday out of the trip (if they wanted to) as opposed to simply making the journey to spend a day with us which would be a big ask!
Of course a wedding is primarily about the the bride and the groom, our special day, but we really wanted to be considered of our guests and we hope they will enjoy it! 😊
I mentioned that getting this far was tough but what made it particularly tough was…
- Choosing from a wide range of lovely options for a wedding abroad but keeping in mind our budget and the ease of access of the location for our guests
- Actually being able to book a venue with only 9 months to go!!
We got lucky and found an available time slot for the ceremony at the Castle in July by compromising on the weekday (Friday instead of Saturday) and time (11am instead of 2pm). We will make it work for us! 😊
Because we currently have quite a few projects going on – our baby, house purchase and renovation – we decided it’d be for the best to hire a local wedding planner to help with the planning, bookings, legal work, and of course the coordination of the actual wedding day. We hope to achieve a relaxed and enjoyable day for all of us! So far the planner of our choice, Lake Garda Weddings (UK company based in Lake Garda), has been very helpful and proactive from the very first contact a month ago, even though we only just recently paid the deposit!
Having made the big decision and choosing the date and location for our wedding, we can now relax and take our time deciding on the finer details; A harpist or a string quartet for the ceremony? A sailing boat or a motor boat for the cruise? A DJ or a band for the evening? Menu and wine selection? And what about the WEDDING DRESS??!!
I’m hoping I’ll have time to look into these questions while on maternity leave next year.
Oooh it’s all so exciting!! ❤️
xoxoxo,
Sini
