Babymoon vol. 2 – Milos

I’m now 23-weeks and two days pregnant, and lying in my new favourite spot – in a hammock under a palm tree, listening to cicadas making noise. Sky is bright blue and the hill down towards the Milos harbour is dotted with white sugar cube-like houses… Heavenly! Not a surprise Milos is said to have been adored by the sea goddess Aphrodite (a.k.a. Venus de Milo) 🙂

My growing baby belly is making about any resting position uncomfortable but here in the hammock my back seems to get the support three pillows – jokingly named as my “barricade” by my partner – failed to do in bed. Bliss.

I think our baby girl likes it too, the post-breakfast wiggling and kicking have calmed down. She is now big enough for us to visibly see her movements which is exciting! This morning her daddy even pointed out she was clearly nestled on my right side as the bump was a bit lopsided 🙂

It’s now a week since we left home, and another week before we will return. I feel so grateful that we had this opportunity to go on a babymoon which I appreciate not everyone will have. Loving and trusting relationship between parents is the foundation for a happy family. Without a doubt the first baby year will bring its challenges and investing in our relationship now will hopefully help us get through it together, as a family (aww I just love saying that!!).

Of course there’s no need to travel far for a babymoon – just dedicating some 1-on-1 time together before the baby arrives would do the trick I believe.

We took a Sea Jet from Santorini to Milos on Wednesday night. The tickets were quite expensive (~50-60€ each) but it’s the quickest way to travel between islands here. We both felt seasick on the boat though and the 90-minute journey felt very long… But totally worth it as we have absolutely loved the island so far!

After complete relaxation for the first three days of our holiday, we were more than ready to do some exploring. We have hired a car for four days (not five, because there were no cars left for the day we arrived). A scooter/moped/etc. was not an option for us this time as I’ve become quite risk averse during my pregnancy. We started by exploring the northern coast of Milos, heading to the famous hot spot of Sarakiniko Beach (see photos).

Today the plan is to head towards the southern coast. When I get up from this hammock that is 🙂

    Hi,

I read your article with attention. I.m pregnant too and we are going to Santorini and milos in june.
We are anxious about the boat between milos and santorin. Do you remember the name of your boat ? Because I read a lot of bad reviews about the seajet company. Is it safe for the baby ?

    Thanks for your advice

    Mathilde 🙂

Hi Mathilde! Congratulations on your pregnancy ❤️ And the Greek islands are wonderful, I hope you’ll have a great time! I had to scroll back my diary to check which boat we had and it was SEAJET2 both ways. I don’t recall any problems, but my husband did get seasick on the way to Milos because it was quite rough conditions weather wise. But I was perfectly fine and had no problems at all (my baby was fine too!). So my experience was a good one. I hope this helps xxx
