Two days until our wedding – eek!!

And suddenly we have only two days to go before our wedding day! 😃 I’m so excited but also getting nervous now. What’s the weather going to be like (rainy/too hot/just perfect)? How will our baby behave? Will people have a good time? Will I wake up on the wedding day with a giant spot on my nose??

After having such a big year with having a baby and buying and renovating a house, I really didn’t think I’d get nervous about our wedding- it’s just one day after all! But I was wrong lol. Suddenly I’m just like all (?) brides before me wanting it all to be nothing short of perfect. At least I’ve been too busy to get nervous until now when we only have a few days left!

I’m excited and happy about getting married but I am a bit stressed about hosting such a significant event abroad. We were hoping for a quite intimate wedding and have only 60 adults invited with their 12 children. I never even host birthday parties as I don’t enjoy the stress and attention that comes with it so a big wedding was out of the question!

I try not to get too stressed because of course the day will be special and memorable to us two no matter what happens, as long as we walk away as Mr and Mrs. ☺️ And let’s not forget that we opted for a wedding planner based locally here in Malcesine at Lake Garda to help. I’ve been so pleased with that decision as our planner from Lake Garda Weddings has been so helpful and organised. She will also be with us throughout the wedding day which is comforting.

We flew to Verona from London Gatwick on Saturday (a week before the wedding). I wasn’t worried about flying with our 7-months old baby girl but since she has absolutely hated the car seat so far, I did stress about the 1.5-hour drive to the airport from central London and then the 45-minute drive from Verona to Malcesine. But to our great surprise it all went super smoothly! Maia slept both car journeys and although she was awake at the airport and on the plane, she was perfectly fine as long as we kept her entertained. The flight was only 1h50min long but annoyingly we were delayed and sat on the plane for an hour before taking off. Maia got a bit bored but at least on the plane we could walk around and play, unlike in the car.

We arrived at 10pm and she continued her sleep in the travel cot provided by the hotel. It was me who struggled to sleep and I kept waking up searching for Maia and eventually brought her into our bed so I could sleep! How silly but what else could I have done?! (Plus I quite enjoy cuddling my precious parcel.)

We decided to be minimal with wedding decorations focusing on flowers and candles. After all, the wedding location is so spectacular with the lake and the mountains that decorations are secondary. I had our wedding menu printed in the UK as well as the table plan, and table number cards, all following the eucalyptus leaf-theme from my bridal bouquet. Our wedding favours will double up as place cards as we got miniature limoncello bottles (and lemon lollies for the children) with personalised tags tied to them. On my request our wedding planner had reserved the limoncello bottles from a local supplier so all we needed to bring with us from home were the wedding stationary and the glass tea light holders (which I got from Ikea).

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we were busy visiting the local suppliers – the florist, the balloon shop, the sweets shop, the wine shop, the castle and the photographer – with Annabel the wedding planner as well as going to the Malcesine Town Hall to sign the required declaration ahead of our marriage. Yesterday we also met up with the restaurant manager Christian to go through the table plan, menus and dietary requirements one more time. We also left the table decorations and wedding favours with him. Now all we have left to do is my make-up trial and mani-pedi tomorrow and we are good to get married! How exciting!

For anyone getting married abroad I would definitely recommend travelling to the location early on. We are now ready with the preparations and can have these last two days to relax and enjoy the run up to our big day.

For those who have followed my post partum fitness journey, I have to confess that this week I have not done any exercise apart from running around Malcesine on wedding admin! I’ve been too busy and it’s been too hot (+30 degrees) for additional workouts. But even if this week would be an exception, I will continue where I left of next week. ☺️ And no, I’m still not on a wedding diet but instead have had pizza, pasta and gelato everyday – we are on holiday in Italy after all! Tomorrow though, I will avoid eating too many carbs because they tend to upset my tummy and make me bloat and I want to feel and look good on Friday.

xoxoxo,

Sini
