“Will you be my wife?”

One week officially engaged!!

On our last night on Santorini, after admiring yet another beautiful sunset, he popped THE question ❤️

It’s almost a year ago now that we decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, to start a family and buy a house. In our priorities, family came (and still comes) as number one and we started trying for a baby in November last year. We’ve also been looking for a house ever since and hope to secure the house we’ve now had our offer accepted on. But I’d still been waiting for that ring … ☺️

I’m so happy he managed to surprise me! Of course it doesn’t really matter but I’m glad the proposal ended up being such a beautiful and special moment – something I’ll always remember.

On Friday August 18th we enjoyed our last Santorini sunset from our hotel poolside and then headed out for dinner at our favourite barbecue restaurant in Oia – the chicken souvlaki and grilled lamb chops were delicious!! Nothing too fancy just honest, tasty food at a family tavern where the grandpa ran the grill. After dinner we had a lovely stroll back by the caldera, admiring the night time views and stars – so romantic! We were standing on the edge of a cliff in the dark looking down at the village lights and the boats in the pitch black sea when he pulled out the ring box – I didn’t see it coming at all!!

He proposed to me with a beautiful eternity ring, quickly adding he’d like me to choose the “actual” engagement ring. As if I’d cared!! I said I’d wear any ring he’d give me – it’s a symbol of something so meaningful!

And then there were fireworks – completely coincidentally but so fitting! We did burst out laughing as it was such an amazing timing. We quietly enjoyed the show, a moment I will treasure…

I had been waiting to make our relationship more “official” and to set a date for the wedding but only now I realise how much it actually meant to me. As they say “a goal without a plan how to get there is only a dream”. I didn’t want to just dream anymore.

I was literally laughing and crying at the same time! I’ll get to marry my best friend, my baby’s dad. I’m so lucky and fortunate I don’t know how I’ve deserved all this! Humbling, truly…

My photographer skills are a bit lacking but below a few pictures of the evening 🙂

There is no such thing as too cheesy/soppy/etc when it comes to engagement in my view! Love and romance are and should be a big part of life. There is time for the inevitable hardship and sadness so let’s embrace the good times!

We got back home last weekend after which I had a bit of a tough start at work (partly just because of post-holiday blues) and now we are in Finland again for the bank holiday weekend!

Holidays are great but admittedly I’m already looking forward to spending some relaxed time at home… to get back on track my gym routine and home cooked food ☺️

Home is best, after all!

xoxoxo,

Sini
